Tutorial, part 1 - How to Use the Pattern

Our Ultimate Victorian Trousers sewing pattern is unique in its design in that it allows you to select which construction options you wish to incorporate into your trousers and piece them together accordingly, thus forming a reusable, fully customizable pattern!

The trousers in our pattern are vertically divided into thirds; begin by choosing which style top you want:

Cut-on waistband
Sew-on waistband
Sew-on waistband
with slant pockets
Sew-on waistband
with pleats

Connect it to the appropriate middle piece:

Then choose what style bottom/hem you wish to make:

"Regular"/flat hem
Curved hem
1.5" cuffs

Once the three pieces (upper/middle/lower) pieces are joined, you'll have a pattern for the style of trousers you wish to construct. (Do this for both the front and back of the trousers.)

The two horizontal lines where the trousers upper/middle and middle/lower pieces are joined serve as balance points during construction (like the notches/wedges/triangles usually do on other commercial patterns), and they also serve as lengthen/shorten lines for fitting!

And finally, the design of our Victorian trousers pattern allows you to "mix-and-match" however you wish, as many times as you'd like!
