Doctor Who - Second Doctor

NOTE: See our Second Doctor Trousers Analysis/Tutorial for more on the Second Doctor's costume!

The Second Doctor (played by Patrick Troughton) wore several different pairs of trousers throughout his era and various later appearances.

Although his costume was considerably different from that of his predecessor, it was generally consistent in style and color scheme; he wore a black coat, light-colored shirt and a tie of sorts, with yellow-ish/black trousers, as seen in these photos from a Doctor Who exhibition:

These appear to be the trousers (or, at least, a reasonable replica of them) he wore in "The Web of Fear":

He wore these for several publicity photos throughout his era as well:

Also consistent with his predecessor's trousers, the Second Doctor's trousers were a houndstooth fabric!

However, probably the most iconic trousers he wore were brown with a large plaid pattern (which he wore with red suspenders, of course), had a sewn-on waistband, and were unusually high-rise:

Also note in the lower photo that the lower pant legs appeared to be rather snug.

He wore a different pair for his appearance in "The Three Doctors," made a plainer, more suiting- -esque fabric, and again unusually high-rise:

Years later, for his appearance in "The Five Doctors," he wore a pair of trousers similar to his brown plaid ones, but grayer and not quite as high-rise:

And finally, in his last (proper) on-screen appearance in "The Two Doctors," Troughton wore a pair of gray trousers similar to those he wore in "The Five Doctors," except considerably more high-rise and with what appeared to be some diagonal double-welt pockets on the front. They also had a cut-on waistband.
